The INOCHI Exhibition was offered at the Okuden of Kongobuji, Koyasan, to commemorate the 1,250th anniversary of the birth of Kobo Daishi Kukai.
Together with the art film “LIFE INOCHI,” an experience of the mystery of the universe and life, it took place at the Okuden and in front of the Konpon Daito.
“LIFE INOCHI with Super Kids Orchestra” unfolded alongside the magnificent sound of the Super Kids Orchestra, nurtured with deep affection by internationally renowned conductor Yutaka Sado.
Presented at Reimeikan, Koyasan University, and at Daishi Kyokai, it became an irreplaceable space in which visitors and the source of life resonated together.
The works to be exhibited this time
are “mandalas of life,” bringing together Sanskrit characters traditionally attributed to Kukai, expressed as the light of prayer, with actual photographs capturing the birth of life.
Reimagined as contemporary art, these works
were also exhibited at Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan, in the Kansai Pavilion’s
Wakayama Booth,
and at the Japan International Art Festival
held in EXPO WASSE.
We will now present a special exhibition of representative works at the Betsuden of Kongobuji, Koyasan.
We invite you to encounter these works, in which Kobo Daishi Kukai’s prayer is expressed as the radiance of life.
